[edit] Which inputs display judder?
Can't judder only be seen if watching over HDMI via cable box? I.e., it can't be seen over plain coax, right? --Eric H. Jung 00:49, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Correct. If coax is plugged directly into the TV's there is no judder. It only occurs when the signal comes in from a cable box.
- 10 Sept. It occurs on all inputs with the possible exception of the air input. I have seen it on my coax also, its barely noticeable in tickers and occurs about every two minutes. If the judder on other inputs was this slight it would be no problem.
23 Sept: I've noticed it on Air input today and its very similar to what I see on the coax input, slight judder and the ticker doesnt flow at a constant speed but almost stops at times. Benjamin2
- What about other devices such as DVD players? I haven't been able to notice in a DVD yet, though I am fairly sure I can see it on an xbox 360.
- From the Avs site: "I experience it with DVD (Component) and a DirecTV H20 receiver (HDMI). The only input I don't see this on is Antenna. In fact, I can watch local HD OTA through the H20 receiver, and see judder constantly under the right circumstances -- basketball on ABC, scrolling text on local news, etc. If I switch to antenna and view the exact same channel through the internal tuner, it's not there. I can also reproduce it with specific scenes in DVDs. These same DVDs never caused problems on my previous plasma TV."
- Does not happen with analog cable/QAM tuner. -Mike F.

I'm not sure why the 'no more judder' video is necessary. To demo judder is one thing; to show no judder seems redundant. -Mike F.

I shot some video of the judder problem using my camcorder and uploaded it to my PC as an MPG video. The judder is not visible in the video, probably because of the loss of quality. --grimholtz 03:20, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

- I didn't add that section, but why do you think it should be removed? I removed the "no judder video" because I was never able to record a video that accurately showed judder...even with a tripod. The quality was just too poor after uploading to YouTube. --grimholtz 15:55, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Since judder will be a moot issue after people update their FW, I don't see any need to have 'confirmed' what everyone already knows. --Mfenech 17:05, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Judder is Back! Months after 1039 Fix!
Last fall I fixed my judder problem by updating my firmware with the 1039 fix. Strangely enough now it is back. It appears to be not quite as bad as it was, for example the CNN ticker will jump every 10-12 seconds instead of every 5-6 seconds. I tried re-installing the 1039 firmware, but the tv would not take it (because it is the same firmware that is currently installed I assume).
The only difference since I first fixed the problem is that I now have Verizon Fios instead of Cox Communications. They both use the same Motorolla set top box, though. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!

- Is the tv using Verizon Fios? Mine only returned after using Fios, unless it was a complete coincidence.
- Yes, it's using Verizon FiOS, although I noticed the problem before I switched to FiOS, so I don't think that's related. --75.192.151.245 22:10, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
Strange. It is not as bad this time, at least based on the ticker. It jerks maybe every 11 seconds versus every 6 before. The picture is excellent otherwise; even friends who have a HD tv comment on it.
